GEHS Cheerleader win first at UCARegionals

This past Saturday, Nov. 5, the Blazer cheerleaders traveled to Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Missouri to compete with the hopes of earning a bid to high school cheer nationals in Florida in February. These girls have worked hard since June for this opportunity; all while continuing to cheer for the Gardner Edgerton High School sports teams, making school spirit banners, performing in assemblies and participating in community events to help paint the school in a positive light. They’ve overcome adversity in the form of multiple injuries and illnesses yet everything came together in a beautiful way yesterday.

GEHS Blazer cheerleaders won first place with both of their routines.Their larger margin of victory was in the GAME DAY division which features traditional cheer elements and a situational response, (offense or defense), to the PA’s cue. They scored 95.1 out of a potential 100. In cheer competitions margins of victory are metered out to the hundredths, but they won by more than 4 whole points.

No summary of the day would be complete without giving the coaching staff the praise they deserve. Michaela Pfaff and Jonas Pippitt have been huge additions to the cheer staff by making the team better and have raised the expectations in the program.
