Gardner Police Department holds 3rd Annual Fundraiser for K9s

Local residents came out to New Century Airport to participate in the 3rd Annual Law Dog 5k, 10k and Powerlifting event on July 9 at 7:30 am.

Mayor Todd Winters and the Gardner Edgerton High School Cross Country Running Team were some of the participants.

This year’s race also added a virtual race for participants unable to attend and an online auction to raise funds.

The event was dog and family friendly.

The money raised supports the Gardner Police Department’s K9 Unit with training, equipment, and the ultimate goal of building an indoor/outdoor kennel with a fenced-in obstacle course.

The police department said it would allow K9 Zeus a safe place to stay when Officer Anderson is out of town. It will also allow visiting handlers a safe place to lodge their K9s.

They said they hope along with being an excellent training tool it will allow them to host a regional conference for the National Police Canine Association.
