Spring Hill wins land dispute with Olathe over annexation

The Kansas Supreme Court ruled on Friday, July 1 that a 2006 agreement between the City of Olathe and the City of Spring Hill regarding land annexation is not legally binding. The City of Spring Hill and the City of Olathe entered into an agreement March 2006 to restrict their future growth by establishing boundaries for annexing land adjacent to the two cities.

Johnson County approves raised speed limits on unincorporated roads

Johnson County Commissioners approved raising the speed limit on 13 road segments in unincorporated parts of the county, Thursday June 23. Jeff Foss, Johnson County Public works, said the 13 segments met the criteria of raising the speed limits to 40 or 45mph and that 85 percent of people who drive these areas drive faster than the posted 35mph speed limit.
