Council members and city staff met Thursday, July 7 to hold a presentation and discuss the upcoming budget and revenue neutral rate for the City. Karen Kindle, finance director, said it was important to review how the city accounts for activities and the revenues and expenditures of the different funds.
It may have been 15 years ago, but Lisa (Becker) Schmidt of Pratt can still see, hear, smell and feel all the emotions that came along with living in Greensburg when an EF5 tornado hit that town on May 4, 2007. Time has not diminished the vivid memories of that day and what followed.

The Kansas Supreme Court has declined to hear a case involving allegations of sexual misconduct by a dental lab instructor at the state-run women’s prison in Topeka, keeping his criminal record clear.
After the first presumptive positive case of monkeypox in Kansas was identified over the weekend, doctors are confident risks to the public remain low. On Saturday, Kansas and Johnson County health officials announced — based on lab testing — the state’s first presumed case of monkeypox in a Johnson County man.
