A small group of friends

A small group of friends gathered together at Cornerstone Park in Gardner, Kansas Monday July 18 to pray for the city. They said they were non-denominational Christians and not affiliated with any church. They just wanted to send overall prayers for Gardner residents and Gardner businesses and government entities. Sacred Heart Catholic Church Ladies Luncheon

We would like to express our appreciation for the opportunity to host 100 ladies that joined us for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Ladies Luncheon. It was refreshing to meet with so many current friends and to get acquainted with so many new ladies in our local communities. The ladies of the church provided a delicious salad luncheon and yummy desserts. In addition to our guest speakers, Deacon Jason Imlay, Gini Lively, and Raylee Wright, we enjoyed the music of Kathy Henehan. As with previous luncheons, we had a free-will donation for those who were interested in supporting the selected charities: The Joy Closet, sponsored by the Presbyterian Church, but strongly supported by the community for those that are in need of assistance for family members and The Pet Pantry, located at the Gardner Justice Center, which is intended to help Gardner residents who are experiencing hard times with assistance in feeding their pets. The pantry is held once a month to qualified applicantsand uses donations provided by local businesses and citizens who wish to help. With your generous offerings, we were able to donate approximately $330 to each organization. We look forward to seeing you next year.

Paula Athey said it wasn’t a new topic, there had always been disabled people and the issue had been brought up in 2017 and the Master Park plans hadn’t changed since 2009.
