Kansas voters defeat abortion amendment in primaries

Lhermansen@cherryroad.com In a landslide Tuesday August 2, Kansas voters defeated a constitutional amendment by a 60 to 40 margin that would have sent abortion rights to the State Legislature to decide on if the amendment had it been won.The constitutional amendment would have nullified the 2019 Kansas Supreme Court ruling striking down a state law banning a common secondterm abortion procedure. The court said the right to bodily autonomy in the state constitution’s Bill of Rights includes the decision to terminate a pregnancy.

JOCO approves additional funding for Sunflower Ammunition improvements

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced earlier this month Japan’s Panasonic Corp would be building a multimillion dollar mega-factory to produce electric vehicle batteries on theNorthwest section of land the U.S.

Johnson County Community College receives Stem Scholars Program Award

Sharice Davids, Kansas 3rd District State Representative, announced Thursday, July 21 the program will help assist highachieving, low income students with financial need pursuing degrees in STEM.

Gardner Edgerton School Board discusses bathroom policies

Jeff Miller, council member, brought forth a proposed general statement of policy to each board member with a request to add it to an already heavily scheduled meeting.
