The school board decided Monday, September 12 not to make a decision on the transgender bathroom policy before receiving feedback through a survey sent out to USD 231 staff members first. All board members, with the exception of board member Katie Williams, were against surveying students.
Gardner Edgerton school board members held a six hour board meeting Monday, September 12 that mainly focused on a proposed policy for bathroom and locker usage in the district’s buildings that would mainly effect students who consider themselves transgender and do not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth. The policy was originally proposed by board member Jeff Miller in July requesting that people “assigned as male at birth use male restrooms and locker rooms and females use female restrooms and female locker rooms.”

The Gardner Rotary Club hosted a panel of city leaders Thursday, September 15 to hear plans for the city’s downtown corridor. The panel consisted of Mayor Todd Winters, Dave Knopick, community development director, Jason Leib, Gardner Chamber President, and local business owners Stacey and Sam Boyajian.
The Gardner Chamber of Commerce held an Open House from 11a.m. to 1p.m.
The Provenance Co., Lawrence, Kansas, on Sept. 24th, will premiere a short documentary about their grassland regeneration project at the Kansas City Underground Film Festival.
reeccooggnniizzeedd Gardner Edgerton School Board recognized Lana Sutton Monday, September 12 at the beginning of the September school board meeting for her time serving as the Board President. Tom Reddin, current board president, presented the plaque to Sutton and thanked her for her tenure.
