Lhermansen@cherryroad.com A modern, general type store resides in an unsuspecting three story older home on the edge of downtown Olathe in the historic residential part of town surrounded by century old homes. The structure is normally bustling with customers looking for unique gifts for special occasions, local school apparel, shopping for the holidays or participating in an unique art or craft class.
Recently the Prairie Moon 4H Club from Spring Hill combined forces with the Gardner-based Prairie Star 4H Club for the betterment of Southern Johnson County. They held their monthly meetings in tandem while strategizing about how they could collaborate on an “in town” gardening project based on the Johnson County Fair Grounds. Both clubs also presented project talks in preparation for the Johnson County Fair. The fair was held at the Johnson County Fair Grounds in Gardner from July 31 through August 6, 2022. Members from both the Prairie Moon and the Prairie Star 4H Clubs sharing our projects with you there.
Grace Baptist Church gave out free drinks to 110 teachers at Groundhouse Coffee Tuesday, August 16 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Brandon Champagne, impact pastor, said they wanted to give back to teachers. “We wanted to show that we appreciate all that they do and their hard work,”he said. “They do so much.” Photo courtesy of Brandon Champagne

4-H Kennedy Graham Club reporter Pioneer 4-H club bounced back in 2021 after a difficult two years due to the lockdowns. Happily new members joined in an effort to ex-plore opportunities in the community for serving, making new friends and enjoying all that 4-H projects have to offer.
The Johnson County Fair kicked off its first day Monday, August 1 with the 4-H Dog Shows. Ellie Ramsey won the 4-H Dog Club’s scholarship with her dog Indy.
