Vote Common Good, a national group of evangelical pastors made a tour stop in Gardner at the Johnson County Fairgrounds overflow parking lot, Friday Oct. 7. Their mission is to travel the country in support of candidates who will stand up to partisan extremism and defend democracy without legislating religion. They hosted the Friday event in support of Keith Davenport, who is running against incumbent State Representative Bill Sutton for District 43, and U.S. Senate candidate from Kansas City, Kansas Mark Holland. Davenport’s sister Kayla Mellinger accompanied him in playing guitar and singing songs about freedom and democracy.
